The Oppo A-series of devices is a pretty popular line for many users across the globe, and for good reason. Unlike the Reno series that primarily targets the mid-range segment, A-series caters to the lower-end segment.
However, these devices still manage to deliver a pretty solid Android experience, hence the popularity among many youths who are often working with tight budgets.

In an unfortunate turn of events, it is now coming to light that not all Oppo A5 2020 and A9 2020 users will have the privilege of using Android 11 on their units.
Oppo, through the announcement of the rollout of Android 11-based ColorOS 11 for users of the Oppo A5 2020, revealed that users with the 3GB RAM variant are out of luck with this update.

We are very sorry for the trouble caused by our mistakes. As ColorOS 11 requires a large RAM space, to ensure the smoothness of your mobile, A5 2020 with 3G RAM storage WILL NOT support the upgrade of ColorOS 11. We will continue to optimize the ColorOS 7 version to bring you a better experience. We solemnly apologize again!

In the tweet announcement of the company’s May 2020 ColorOS 11 roadmap, the fate of users of the 3GB RAM variant of the Oppo A9 2020 is also tied to this so no Android 11 for you either.
Oppo explains that this decision was made because of Android 11’s system requirements and while we cannot independently speak to this, it kinda makes sense.
The company also goes to assure users of these devices continued optimization to the ColorOS 7 version on their units to bring them a better experience.
