The non-profit Signal Technology Foundation and Signal Messenger LLC developed Signal, which is a cross-platform centralized encrypted instant messaging service. Users can send one-to-one and group messages, which can include files, voice notes, images and videos which is easily adaptable for frequent WhatsApp users. 
Citing their website, LINE is a freeware app for instant communications on smartphones, tablet computers, and personal computers. LINE, which has roughly 600 million users, are able to exchange texts, images, video and audio, and conduct free VoIP conversations and video conferences.
Discord -launched in 2015 – is a VoIP, instant messaging and digital distribution platform. Users communicate with voice calls, video calls, text messaging, media and files in private chats or as part of communities called “servers”. Servers are a collection of persistent chat rooms and voice chat channels.
