Man dead after car hits tree, bursts into flames in west Houston – Houston Chronicle

A man died early Saturday after his car hit a tree and burst into flames in west Houston, according to Houston police.
The Houston Fire Department responded to a single car crash just before 3 a.m. at the 13000 block of Butterfly Lane, near the intersection of Memorial and North Wilcrest.
The driver was reportedly speeding southbound on North Wilcrest before he lost control, hit a tree and caught on fire next to a home, according to Sgt. Michael Hroch of HPD’s vehicular crimes division.
“I was able to speak to one of the neighbors and we got partial footage of him coming down the roadway,” he said. “He was definitely going fast compared to the other traffic that going by before him.”
