Detroit fined $25,000 for environmental failures in blight demolitions – Detroit News

The state has fined the city of Detroit $24,500 in the last eight months over safety violations by its contractors for failing to remove asbestos from the homes they are hired to demolish.
The fines have resulted in the temporary suspension of two of Detroit’s contractors, according to the city.
