A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Highway 74 in Lake Elsinore on Sunday, prompting the partial closure of the road in the Santa Ana mountains.
The crash occurred at about 9:10 a.m. on the eastbound lane north of Rocky Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP reported that a motorcycle slammed into a guardrail.
Cal Fire/Riverside County fire officials later said the motorcycle ended up 65 feet over the side of the roadway and that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The eastbound highway was shut down temporarily at the crash site.
