Hillsborough, NC (December 26, 2021) – Around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, December 26, a serious multi-vehicle crash took place in the Hillsborough area, just outside of Raleigh.
According to local authorities, the accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 around mile marker 163. Few details regarding the accident have been released but it is believed that two passenger vehicles collided in the left lane, causing injuries and leading to extensive damages to both cars.
Hillsborough EMS and officers with the Hillsborough Police Department were dispatched to the scene of the accident to help those in need. At least one injured victim, who has not yet been identified, was transported to an area medical center for further treatment.
All but one lane of traffic was blocked in the area while police worked to clear the scene. No further details have been released, however, and the investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
Highways are one of the most common places for car accidents in the state of North Carolina. Because of this, many people involved in these accidents will be hospitalized every single year. Authorities report that more than 120,000 people were injured as a result of car accidents in the Tar Heel State.
Furthermore, these accidents often occur due to the negligent or reckless acts of other motorists, from distracted driving and texting while behind the wheel to DUI, speeding, and beyond. Thankfully, if you’ve been affected by a car crash that’s happened through no fault of your own or lost a loved one in one of these crashes, you may have legal recourse.
North Carolina car accidents can lead to severe, long-term injuries every year, including whiplash, TBIs, fractures, organ damage, and broken bones. These catastrophic injuries tend to land victims in the hospital, occasionally for weeks at a time, and cause them to miss out on time at work. If you have sustained serious injuries in a wreck that was not your fault, you may wonder how you will afford to pay the bills that pile up, all while coping with lost wages and emotional trauma.
For these reasons and more, speaking with a Hillsborough personal injury attorney is one of the best decisions that you can make in the aftermath of a serious car accident.
