A motorcycle rider was seriously hurt Tuesday when an allegedly intoxicated driver pulled in front of him at a Pacific Beach intersection, causing a collision, San Diego police said.
The crash happened just before 2 p.m., when a 2000 Toyota Camry stopped in a southbound traffic lane on Haines Street at Grand Avenue before driving into the intersection and into the path of the 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle, police said. The rider was headed west on Grand Avenue and struck the Toyota.
The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old man, suffered open fractures in his right wrist, right leg and left arm. Medics took him to a hospital for treatment.
Officers arrested the motorist, a 26-year-old man, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
